Welcome to the 156th Conquests Game of the Month
In this game, you will rule as King William over the Dutch. This is a Demi-God-level game designed by Captain Jack.
The Dutch are a hard-working and clever people, and in this game you will lead them forward into the new ages. Your tribesmen are agricultural and seafaring. They have already mastered pottery and can build granaries, but they have also devised a way to make wetlands habitable and can settle directly onto marsh! That’s an innovation that might come in handy someday. Your scholars have also devised an alphabet that will undoubtedly prove useful.
Some of your people call themselves seafarers. They have been so daring as to build small boats called curraghs with which they navigate the local river. Perhaps these boats can venture onto the wild water of the sea. Who can tell?
Your unique unit is the Swiss Mercenary, considered by some to be a half-price musketman he is actually a replacement for the pikeman with one extra defence point and requires iron to build.
Your land is fertile and lovely. The future might reveal hidden treasures of which you will be the steward, but there might also be danger. Lead your people well.
The normal changes to the Conquests rules apply to this game: Iron locations are fixed, and Workers instead of Settlers can be popped from Goody Huts. In addition to this, the following changes have been made to terrain causing Disease in order to limit the impact of chance on the competition:
- Flood Plains do not cause Disease
- Jungles and Wetland have their Disease level lowered from 50% to 25%
- Knowledge of Sanitation cancels Disease in Jungles and Wetlands

Special notes for C3C
NoAIPatrol Setting: There has been a lot of discussion regarding the barb behavior in C3C and how the NoAIPatrol flag controls that behavior. For the COTM competition it is highly recommended that all players set the NoAIPatrol flag to 0 to permit fairly consistent barb behavior across all player's games. This is done by opening the "conquests.ini" file in your favorite editor, adding the line "NoAIPatrol=0" to it, and saving.
