Black Willem Dread is Financial and Creative; starting with Fishing and Agriculture. The Financial trait gives +1 commerce to all tiles already having at least 2. Creative gives all cities +2 free culture, and 100% production bonus towards Libraries, Theaters and Colosseums.
Your Unique unit is the East Indiaman, replacing the Galleon. It is simply an awesome ship, having 6 strength instead of the normal 4. But as if that wasn't enough it also gets one extra cargo capacity, 4 instead of 3, and like a Caravel it can explore rival territory without declaring war. Sheesh. Your Unique building is the Dike, replacing the Levee. It adds +1 hammer not only to river-side tiles, but also to all water tiles. Further, the city that builds it needs to be river-side or coastal.
IMPORTANT: This game must be played with the BtS 3.17 patch, and the HOF mod version 3.17.001.
As always, have fun playing the GOTM and we hope you join us in the postgame discussions!

Choose your Game
Besides the normal contender, we sometimes provide an easier save (the adventurer save) and an extra-hard save (the challenger).
Below are the details for the saves we are providing for this game. You can choose to play and submit any one of these:
Adventurer (the easy save)
The adventurer starting save has been changed to make your game a bit easier. However, if you submit an adventurer game, you won't eligible to win any of the medals or fastest finish awards when the results are published.
These are your adventurer bonuses:
- Pirate stash!: Black Willem has been quite successful in his raiding, and his stash contains an impressive 100 gold.
- Pirate ship!: Well, it may not be the envy of the world, but you start out with a workboat on the tile north of the settler.

Contender (the standard save)
This is the save that most people play. If you want to enter the competition with a normal game, then download and play this one.
Contender bonuses:
- None.

Challenger (the extra-hard save)
Play this save if you want an extra challenge. Your entry will be marked out as a contender
entry when the results are published, so you'll get extra kudos.
These are your challenger equalizers:
- Pirate curse!: The fishermen don't want to be associated with you, they say the fish just won't bite. You'll have to learn Fishing on your own.
- Pirate reputation!: The fishermen want revenge for their lousy catches, so they all went to join your neighbors instead. Two of your neighbors will start with a workboat.
