Getting your PC Set up for Civ4 GOTMs

To play Civ4 BtS games of the month (BOTMs) you need Civ4 BtS installed on your computer, patched to version 3.19, and with the BUFFY mod version 3.19.005 installed.

If you have installed Civ from Steam, you'll need to use the Steam 'beta' version (which is actually not a beta - it's the original release), otherwise BUFFY won't work.

This page gives you the links to download stuff you may need

CivilizationIV.ini explanation:

CivilizationIV.ini controls some user preferences for playing Civ. We suggest you replace the CivilizationIV.ini file with the downloadable file here because the default one sets the game to autosave only every 4 turns. But if you're unlucky enough to suffer a game crash, you'll want latest autosave to be as up-to-date as possible, so saving every turn is better. (In the event of a crash, you need to PM the mapmaker and then play from the latest available autosave).

The CivilizationIV.ini you can download from this page sets autosaves to every turn, with 10 autosaves being kept. It also sets to ask each time you start Civ whether or not you want to open the game in full screen and makes loading BUFFY the default when you start Civ.

If you prefer not to use the downloadable version, just open your existing CivilizationIV.ini with a text editor, find the lines that refer to AutoSaveInterval, and change them to:

; Specify the number of turns between autoSaves. 0 means no autosave.
AutoSaveInterval = 1
