Image that is used for this game

It's Remembrance Day today and a perfect time to revisit The Great War. This war started when my tiny little native country of Serbia agitated the powerful Austro-Hungarian Empire, causing a cascade of war declarations among the great powers. This month you will lead Serbia against its numerous enemies. In a slight revision of historical events, however, the Entente has chosen not to participate in the war. It's just you against the powerful Alliance. *

* You are permanently at war with 3 AIs and permanently at peace with 3 others. All AIs are permanently at peace. Your 3 enemies have also been provided with one important early game tech.

You will play as Petar I. Petar I is Philosophical and Expansive and starts the game with Agriculture and The Wheel. Philosophical provides +100% great person points and a +100% production bonus of University. Expansive provides +2 health in every city, a +100% production bonus of Granary and Harbor, and a +25% production bonus of Worker.

Your unique unit is the Jannissary. The Jannissary replaces Musketman. Compared to the Musketman, it has a +25% combat bonus against all melee, archery and mounted units.

Your unique building is the Hammam. It replaces the Aqueduct. The Hammam provides +2 happy in the city in which it is built, in addition to Aqueduct's other benefits.

IMPORTANT: This game must be played with the BtS 3.19 patch, and the BUFFY mod version 3.19.003 for Windows players, MACBUFFY for Mac players.

As always, have fun playing the GOTM and we hope you join us in the postgame discussions!

New Players

The Newbies' Guide to Getting Started tells you how to get set up to play GOTMs as well as explaining the competition rules. Please note our no-replaying rule. If you want to enter the competition, don't replay any turns. Feel free to discuss your game with other players, but ONLY in the spoiler threads that we'll open in this forum.

Choose your Game

Besides the normal contender, we sometimes provide an easier save (the adventurer save) and an extra-hard save (the challenger).

Below are the details for the saves we are providing for this game. You can choose to play and submit any one of these:

Adventurer (the easy save)

The adventurer starting save has been changed to make your game a bit easier. However, if you submit an adventurer game, you won't eligible to win any of the medals or fastest finish awards when the results are published.

These are your adventurer bonuses:

Your game will be played at Noble.

NOTICE: For BOTM47, all participants are eligible to play the Adventurer save if they wish, but doing so will render your game ineligible for medals or fastest finish awards as always.
