Welcome to the 154th Conquests Game of the Month, designed by Più Freddo.
In this game, you will rule over the Mongols, who are Expansionist and Militaristic and start the game with the knowledge of Pottery and Warrior Code. This is a Deity-level game. The Mongol Unique Unit is the Keshik, a Knight replacement which is cheaper, but is also weaker in the defence. Instead, it crosses Mountains and Hills as if they were Grassland.
However, this is not the only Unit in this game with this ability! The Spanish Conquistador has been downgraded to treat Mountains and Hills as Grassland, and the Ancient Cavalry upgraded to the same ability. Then there is the Chasqui Scout...
In order to make the game safe for immediate annihilation at this level on a Pangaea map, you have at your disposal, among other things which you must discover, two extra units: Temujin and his lovely wife Börte. Börte was once robbed away by another tribe. Temujin rescued her, took her home, and now she will not move again. There is only one way to move the Börte unit, perhaps you will figure out how. She requires a complete Royal Procession. (Please don't play around with the save before you have played the COTM, though. Stick to the rules!)
You might think that Börte will protect your Capital, but she will not. She has no defence capability. She does keep the populace calm however, just like any military police unit.
Temujin, on the other hand, is a restless soul and has already left Börte behind with the Settler and rest. He moves two tiles per turn and ignores movement costs in Hills, Mountains and Marshes. He has the Blitz ability and the Enslave ability (creating Workers) and a Zone of Control. He has two extra health points.
You pay no upkeep for the Royal Family. Both Temijun and Börte are for free. There is only of each and they cannot be built again. They do not start a Golden Age.
A note of caution: Some tribes have gotten new colours in order to make it easier to keep them apart.
The normal changes to the Conquests rules apply to this game: Iron locations are fixed, and Workers instead of Settlers can be popped from Goody Huts. In addition to this, the following changes have been made to terrain causing Disease in order to limit the impact of chance on the competition:
- Flood Plains do not cause Disease
- Jungles and Wetland have their Disease level lowered from 50% to 25%
- Knowledge of Sanitation cancels Disease in Jungles and Wetlands

Special notes for C3C
NoAIPatrol Setting: There has been a lot of discussion regarding the barb behavior in C3C and how the NoAIPatrol flag controls that behavior. For the COTM competition it is highly recommended that all players set the NoAIPatrol flag to 0 to permit fairly consistent barb behavior across all player's games. This is done by opening the "conquests.ini" file in your favorite editor, adding the line "NoAIPatrol=0" to it, and saving.
