C-IV Gotm LVIII:
Stone Age Challenge
Somewhere along the Mongolian steppe, a nomadic band of mammoth hunters and their domesticated wolf companions, having trudged for months over barren desert and through boreal forest, rejoice as the chilling wind and blanketing snowfall fade. The whole of the group stares across the frozen tundra and, without speaking, simultaneously begin to dream of something better . . . It is the late Pleistocene, 18,000 years ago. Not the best time to be a furless primate. Great icecaps extend southwards from the poles, covering much of the land. Active volcanoes belch molten lava and plumes of ash. The world is still home to the great mammalian mega fauna: wooly mammoths, mastodons, saber-toothed cats, cave lions, and giant cave bears. In this game of the month you will traverse impoverished terrain and confront wild animals that are present in abundance from the game’s beginning. The complete absence of iron, copper, aluminum, coal, uranium, and oil resources, along with no hills to mine, ensures that you will remain in a perpetual stone age. Note, consistent with the game’s theme, some resources may be found outside of their traditional ‘habitats’ -- such as the presence of elephants on ice and flood plains on tundra (please consider them mammoths and glacial melt zones).
Cro-Magnan Khan is Agressive and Expansive; starting with Hunting and The Wheel. The Aggressive trait grants a free promotion (Combat 1) to all melee and gunpowder units and allows Barracks and Drydocks to be constructed at half production costs. Expansive provides +3 health per city and halves the production cost of Granaries and Harbors.
Your Unique unit is the Keshik, replacing the Horse Archer. It does not receive defensive bonuses, has 1 First Strike, has +50% attack versus Catapults and ignores movement costs. The Keshik requires Horseback Riding, Archery and Horses.
As always, have fun playing the GOTM and we hope you join us in the postgame discussions!

Choose your Game
Besides the normal contender, we sometimes provide an easier save (the adventurer save) and an extra-hard save (the challenger).
Below are the details for the saves we are providing for this game. You can choose to play and submit any one of these:
Adventurer (the easy save)
The adventurer starting save has been changed to make your game a bit easier. However, if you submit an adventurer game, you won't eligible to win any of the medals or fastest finish awards when the results are published.
These are your adventurer bonuses:
- Warlord: You play the game at Warlord difficulty, and AI will receive Warlord starting units.

Challenger (the extra-hard save)
Play this save if you want an extra challenge. Your entry will be marked out as a contender

These are your challenger equalizers:
- Prince: You play the game at Prince difficulty, the AI will receive Prince starting units and you will score as if playing on Noble.
