C-IV Gotm LXVI:
Beyond Thunderdome Redux
Well in advance of the event, Dr. Ragan Narok, of the Norwegian Doomsday Institute, presented compelling evidence that Australia would be least affected by an atomic Armageddon. Nonetheless, had the massive, lead-lined doors of many of the down under Phoenix Mines not been closed ahead of their hasty construction schedules, the earth might finally have been cured of its long lingering blight. As it happened, the chosen endurers from several nation states and their provisions were sealed in their country’s mine and out of harm’s way when the missiles and counter-missiles were fired . . . and human habitation, perhaps even human civilization, would continue.
In this game of the month, a global nuclear cataclysm has come and gone, and you play as one of the fortunate former nations that acted most precipitously on Dr. Narok’s prediction. Your band of would-be world reclaimers has inevitably fouled their subterranean environment, exhausted critical supplies, and been forced to break their bunker’s radiation seal and step into the post-apocalyptic light.
The world outside is now habitable . . . barely. Fallout lingers, organic resources are limited, all but a few basic technologies have been lost, and once-great cities stand in ruin or are memorialized by radioactive craters. Moreover, some of the surviving endurers failed to produce effective leaders and have regressed to savagery . . . pillaging and destroying with relentless ferocity.
This is humanity’s chance to begin anew. Will you loot the crumbling ruins or attempt to breathe new life into them? Will you overcome the atavistic road warriors and lead your people to reclaim their former glory and establish lasting prosperity and contentment, or will irresolvable conflicts arise among the re-emerging nations on a crowded subcontinent and history repeat itself?
Mad Frank is Industrious and Organized; starting with Fishing and Agriculture. The Industrious trait grants +50% Wonder production and allows double production speed of Forge. The Organized trait provides -50% civic upkeep and double production speed of Lighthouse and Courthouse.
Your Unique unit is the Navy SEAL, replacing the Marine. Its special abilities include 1-2 first strikes, +50% attack versus Machine Guns and Artillery and it starts with the Amphibious and March promotions. To build Navy SEAL's requires that you have discovered Industrialism and Rifling.
As always, have fun playing the GOTM and we hope you join us in the postgame discussions!

Choose your Game
Besides the normal contender, we sometimes provide an easier save (the adventurer save) and an extra-hard save (the challenger).
Below are the details for the saves we are providing for this game. You can choose to play and submit any one of these:
Adventurer (the easy save)
The adventurer starting save has been changed to make your game a bit easier. However, if you submit an adventurer game, you won't eligible to win any of the medals or fastest finish awards when the results are published.
These are your adventurer bonuses:
- Monarch: You play the game at Monarch difficulty, and AI will receive the same starting units that are in the Contender save.

Challenger (the extra-hard save)
Play this save if you want an extra challenge. Your entry will be marked out as a contender

These are your challenger equalizers:
- Immortal: You play the game at Immortal difficulty, the AI will receive the same starting units present in the Contender save and you will score as if playing on Emperor.
