After years of wandering the Aztec people are ready to settle down and found your first city. Other tribes are in the same situation... but not all of them. Rumors go around about the EMPIRE, a mighty tribe that has developed into a civilization years ago. Will you be able to catch up with them? Or will you succumb to their head start?
Montezuma is Spiritual and Aggressive; starting with Hunting and Mysticism. As you are Spiritual you get no anarchy and you also get double speed temple. Being Aggressive, your melee and gunpowder units get a free Combat I promotion and you also get double speed Barracks and Drydock.
Your Unique unit is the Jaguar, replacing the Swordman. Compared to the Swordman this unit has a cost of 35 instead of 40, a strength of 5 instead of 6, an additional 25% when defending on jungle and it can be built with the knowledge of Iron Working, without the need to connect Iron.
As always, have fun playing the GOTM and we hope you join us in the postgame discussions!

Choose your Game
Besides the normal contender, we sometimes provide an easier save (the adventurer save) and an extra-hard save (the challenger).
Below are the details for the saves we are providing for this game. You can choose to play and submit any one of these:
Adventurer (the easy save)
The adventurer starting save has been changed to make your game a bit easier. However, if you submit an adventurer game, you won't eligible to win any of the medals or fastest finish awards when the results are published.
These are your adventurer bonuses:
- Servants: You start the game with one additional Worker.

Contender (the standard save)
This is the save that most people play. If you want to enter the competition with a normal game, then download and play this one.
Contender bonuses:
- None:

Challenger (the extra-hard save)
Play this save if you want an extra challenge. Your entry will be marked out as a contender
entry when the results are published, so you'll get extra kudos.
These are your challenger equalizers:
- Monarch: You play the game at Monarch difficulty, although AI will receive Prince starting units and you will score as if playing on Prince.
